Shore excursion

The Amalfi coast is a real pearl of Italian tourism, loved and appreciated all over the world and for this overcrowded destination in the summer. The landscape is beautiful with mountains overlooking the sea and sharp corners that hide villages wedged in the rocks, as if they were real cribs.

A fundamental stage of our excursion is Ravello. Three hundred and fifty meters above sea level, for its spectacular views from the gardens of ancient patrician villas, Ravello is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Probably the most beautiful is the Villa Cimbrone, with balconies which can take pictures that look like postcards. The Cathedral of San Pantaleo is worth visiting for its architectural treasures that for centuries have captured the attention of Boccaccio, Wagner, Lawrence and many other artists and writers.

It's time to go back to the sea and finally reach Amalfi. It too part of UNESCO heritage, its foundation dates back to Roman times, but the city reached its splendor as one of four maritime republics competing for control of the Mediterranean. Today Amalfi is the largest and busiest city of the coast, but it is also a great place to shop in the quaint shops of downtown, while enjoying a terrific ice cream or a lemon granita. Among the most beautiful architecture of Amalfi appear the imposing Cathedral of St. Andrew, preceded by a long staircase, the Ancient arsenals of the Republic, and the Cloister of Paradise.

Last but not least is Positano. From the street you see a mosaic of colored houses that seem mounted one above the other, and it's lovely down the narrow streets to the port from where you can see the silhouette of Capri. Other highlights include the Saracen towers, the tiled dome of the Church of San Luca Evangelista, the picturesque Convent of Santa Maria a Castro and ... it's time to stop at the beach to relax and enjoy the warm sun of the Amalfi Coast!
